“I’m Just Too Busy!”

In today’s world, the busyness of the day can keep us from doing a lot of things we should be doing. One of the most obvious things that we should always have as a priority is exercise. Our bodies are wearing out over time. If we’re not serious about taking care of ourselves, life is only going to get more difficult.

Monday through Friday might be hard for some of us to really get in a good sweat. That’s why USA Today’s Nanci Hellmich wrote an article about taking advantage of exercise during the weekend.

Just Do Something

In her article, Hellmich mentions a woman who works all week but still finds time during the weekend to play basketball, soccer, softball, go rock climbing, jog, or go bike riding. The important thing is that she’s doing something.

Hellmich gives us a list of benefits we receive from taking the time to exercise:

  • Better blood sugar control
  • Improved sleep and mood
  • Reduced stress and depression
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke
  • Reduces the risk of some types of cancer
  • Helps control weight
  • Improves bone and joint health
  • Builds stronger muscles
  • Reduces dangerous belly fat

Interestingly enough, the government actually suggests 150 minutes of “moderate-intensity physical activity” every single week. Whether we’re pushing ourselves to do that or not is up to us and us alone. If you want to be happier, healthier, and live longer, taking the time to exercise during the weekend will make all the difference.
